How a Fire Alarm Detects Heat or Fire in Major Structures

A Fire alarm is a mandatory system that has to be put in place in most residential and commercial establishments all over the world. There are different types of fire alarm detection systems available in the market, some more sophisticated than others, however, there is a basic premise on which most fire alarms work. There are the conventional system, public address systems, fireman telephone systems, and gas suppression systems and different established opt for different types of fire alarm systems. The following are the basic systems in a fire alarm and how fire alarms detect fire:

Fire Alarm Systems - How They Detect Fire

·      Fire alarms have a fire alarm control panel, a primary power supply, a backup power supply, initiating devices and notification systems to help provide a sound or signal in the light of a fire.

·   Fire alarm heat detector works with the help of fire, smoke and heat sensors. These sensors detect heat, smoke or fire in a structure when it reaches the fire detection chamber within the fire alarm. Heat, fire particles, and smoke particles are detected by the sensors and these sensors then trigger an alarm within the fire alarm and the notification process is then initiated where sound and sometimes light signals are issued by the fire alarm to alert people of a fire.

Fire detection panel is designed in such a way that the fire can be detected in a fast way and the alarm can be detected immediately. The detection of fire is done in the fire detection chambers in the fire alarm and there are usually three types of fire alarms. Detection processes available in the markets are ionization detection, photoelectric detection or a combination of both.

Fire alarm systems have a strong detection system in place and the technology keeps improving, making the alarms more sensitive and more reliable.
